THE SHOPS AT MAUNA LANI STAGE
Hula Moon at Mauna Lani
"Hula Moon at Mauna Lani" is the latest production from
Traditions Hawaii, the talented halau of Big Island kumu hula Nani
Lim of Kohala.
The free, 30-minute show revives the feel of Hawaii circa the 1920s
through 1950s, an era before statehood when beautiful ladies in cellophane
skirts danced to hapa haole melodies and the islands first captured
the imagination of travelers from around the world.
"The Lim family has done an exceptional job of creating a show
that’s as classic as it is entertaining," said Bill Borkan, owner
of The Shops at Mauna Lani. "The free show is our way of honoring
the host culture and promoting the music and dance that makes our
island home so unique."
"Hula Moon at Mauna Lani" is the latest writing, musical
and choreography collaboration by Nani Lim and son Carrington Lim.
The mother-son team also crafted the "Hawaiian Goddesses"
and "Kamehameha: Shark Eyes and Restless Nights" productions
for The Shops at Mauna Lani.
